About

Thanks for visiting Kath & Belle!

Here's a little bit of background......

I have been surrounded by photographs all my life. My Mom worked at a professional photo lab since the early 1970's. My Grandad Cole took photo's as a hobby and even set up a dark room in the cellar in his terraced house in Intended Street, Colley Gate.

I have worked for a photo lab on and off for over 20 years, and experienced the different areas, from developing negatives, all the way through the editing. At the same time I achieved a BA (Hons) in 3D Design and an MA in Fashion, Textiles & Surface Design.

I never really appreciated the importance of a photograph when I was younger.

When our Daughter, Amélie Belle was born in 2012 it all changed. I was recording every movement, milestone and facial expression. Time goes so quickly - all we have left are the memories captured in photographs.

I began sewing in 2014 and making unique clothing for her to wear and set up a little business selling them. She was always my model (reluctant at times). This is where I've gained my experience with photography. Trying to get a decent non-blurry image of a 2 year old who literally would not sit still for one second was a challenge. I gave up the dressmaking in early 2020, as I found I was more excited by the photography side of the business and the styling of the photoshoots, rather than selling the dresses. It seemed like a natural progression...

So Kath & Belle was born... My middle name is Kathleen and Amélie's is Belle. We've always worked as a team and she is definitely my harshest critic. She appears a lot through my portfolio of images - although a reluctant model at times.

I specialise in children's photography and only offer sessions in my studio in Quarry Bank. I use mainly natural light and warm toned editing.

Now going into my fourth year in business, I hope we can work together to ensure we capture the memories for you to treasure forever.

I'll look forward to hearing from you.
